Into the New Years

December 31, 2007

Today is December 31st and in fifteen hours the ball will drop and we will be entering a new year.
I have mentioned my new year resolutions however as I think about all of that and the thought of a new year, I think to myself, what has changed from last year to this one?
Nothing.
Oh we didn’t lose a parent this year and we did move, which in turn has made our finances quite bad, but the rest of it, hasn’t really changed.
I live a dull life.
I know that.
I actually hate that we never do anything for New Year’s.
It is sad.
We are 46 and 50 but we live like we are 76 and 80 and I HATE that.
However as long as I am married to who I am married to, this will not change.
And I’ve lived sitting at home on New Year’s eve since I was pregnant with Brian 27 years ago.
Ugh how sad is that?
Still…..

I plan on looking for a second part time job today and doing a few other errands in Iowa City but other then that, this day will be like many others.
Sitting at home bumming and waiting for the New Year to come in so I can go to bed.
Oh we do have Keira tonight too.
:)
Happy New Year’s to everyone.

no email’s

December 29, 2007

today is day two of no emails from Kathy.
:(
I hate it.
I understand it is hard to get to the library and I even understand that she has to work twelve hour days but….it is quite annoying when I have to go days without hearing from her.
I imagine that it is nice and warm there, green grass and trees and here we are stuck in the deep freeze.
:(
Wish I was there.

met the new boyfriend

December 29, 2007

today I met Emily’s new boyfriend.
His name is Darrell and he is extremely shy…or so it seems to me.
Maybe he isn’t really shy but just nervous around us and therefore he comes off as shy.
He is a nice looking boy.
Emily says she never has had to open a door for herself with him around.
Which is very sweet and romantic to me.
:)
He lost his license because of a drunk driving charge and got stopped leaving our Thursday morning and was taken to jail.
Emily bailed him out (she has a soft heart) and he had to appear before a judge yesterday morning.
Not sure what they will cost him but Emily was eager to help her so therefore   I think she is probably falling pretty hard already.
Hope she is careful and doesn’t fall so hard that she gets hurt again.

snow snow and more snow….

December 28, 2007

here we are on hte last day of 2007 and it snowed again.
Five inches worth.
ugh.
Sick of shoveling snow.
It was a beautiful day to watch it snow, and the trees are quite beautiful to see with the snow on them but it seems like all it does is snow.
We haven’t had this much snow in December for years.
Guess I’m spoiled.
:)

how cool is that?
A twelve year old girl in Panama survived a plane crash into a mountain while her friend, the friend’s father and the pilot died.
Makes a person wonder….why was she saved and the others taken?
Goes back to my belief that if it is your day to die, it is your day to die.

how sad is that?
Poor kid, what a way to die.
However it makes me wonder why people think they need to cage wild animals to begin with.
Maybe the tiger got tired of people staring at her and just decided to jump ship.
Maybe the tiger was just tired of being cooped up.
Makes me wonder what they are going to do with the tiger?
Kill her like they do alligators in Florida when they attack someone?
Hopefully not.
But probably.
Somehow the zoo will feel like it is justice served at least for the family for the 17 year old boy.

I think they should leave the wild animals in the wild…and if people want to see them then they need to go to Africa or where ever the wild animals live and see them.

Still ……one young man had his life suddenly taken…..

shoveling snow

December 26, 2007

went back to work today and while I thought it would be an easy day, that just goes to show you what I know!!!

It snowed last Saturday and while we don’t have to have all the snow cleared until January 3rd, it needs done sometime so I thought my coworker would take care of it.
Wrong again.
Oh he did a bit here and there but he left the majority of it for me.
I worked for an hour on steps alone.
And people had walked on the steps and that made it worse and harder to clean off.
Makes a person wonder where his sense of right or wrong is.
Granted he is older then I am but he is still the man and one would think just because he is the guy that he would realize that it was his duty to do the harder work.
Nope.
Doesn’t work that way.

his sense of doing for the weaker sex doesn’t exist.

So we are suppose to get three or four inches of snow this Friday so I’m going in on Saturday and remove the snow because I can use the over time AND I  don’t trust Tom to do it.
:(

No Country for Old Men

December 25, 2007

I just went to see this movie “No Country For Old Men” and I have to say it was quite disturbing.
Extremely good but very disturbing.
I would like others to go see it and give me their input on it.
It was disturbing because of the violence but yet the messege in it too was disturbing.
I can’t even begin to explain it without giving the whole plot away and I don’t want to do that.
I hated the ending, but yet it probably couldn’t have ended any other way.
I recommend it to everyone, above the age of 18 and I will be very interested in anyone else who has gone to see it.

Merry Christmas

December 25, 2007

Well the holiday is here and I am sitting here all alone with Rick in the next room
Paula and Sarah left a half hour ago.
Crystal and Matt are going to several Christmas parties for her family.
Brian and Tonyia are staying home just celebrating the day as their own family

And Emily is with Darrell, and I’m not sure what they are doing.

It is crazy to spend this day without my children around.
Rather strange and to be honest I don’t like it.
I realize they all grow up and move on and have their own lives however it just isn’t Christmas with out them all here eating Christmas dinner.

rather sad.

But what does a person do?
Nothing one can do.
We just can’t make our kids spend time with us if they don’t want to.
:(

Rick and I are going to a movie because let’s face it, it really isn’t Christmas without the kids here.
So we will go entertain ourselves at a movie theater.

Merry Christmas to all and I hope you all have a very safe and happy New Year.
:)

We had a whopper of a snow storm yesterday.
5 inches here in West Liberty

Okay maybe that isn’t a whopper of a snow storm but it is enough.
Tomorrow is Christmas eve and I don’t think it will get above freezing so…we will have snow all week.

Rented some old movies and have been watching them today.
Right now I’m watching “Unforgiven”  a Clint Eastwood movie that won best picture….way back when…..
I don’t remember the year.
Think Eastwood got best director for it too.

Then rented “The Pianist” which was depressing but good.
And “Evidence of Blood” which was slow but alright.
Then “The Gingerman” which was long and predictable but fairly good.
And last one was “Mr and Mrs Smith” which isn’t all that old but I had only seen it once so I thought what they hey…..

This has been my day.
Had Keira until eleven… and Rick got called into work at three so…I’ve been home by myself since then.

Now that Emily has a new boyfriend I rarely see her and I don’t even rate a kiss goodbye anymore.
Guess she is growing up and doesn’t need her mother’s love and affection as much.
:(

would have been a perfect day to write on a story, but …..just can’t seem to get the writing bug.
:(

Christmas eve tomorrow and I think we won’t be eating until seven pm.
Because Matt and Crystal are going to be on her side so…we have to wait for them……

anyway this is my day….thus far…..
Merry Christmas one and all…..
